Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle Event 2017 Sponsors

With over 3,800 attendees, the 10th annual Cenex-LCV2017 Event, hosted at Millbrook Proving Ground, achieved a 23% total increase in visitor and exhibitor attendance compared with LCV2016.

Amongst the many announcements, new product launches and new initiatives revealed at LCV2017, some highlights of the two-day event included:

• HIPERCAR Reveal - British firm Ariel unveiled what it believes will be the fastest-accelerating and most advanced supercar in history, a 1200bhp, four-wheel-drive electric two-seater with a revolutionary turbine range extender powertrain.

• The winners of the Niche Vehicle Network competitions were announced. The winners secured a share of a recent £3.9 million investment for low carbon development and demonstration projects.

• Meridian, the Intelligent Mobility Accelerator, was officially launched to support further innovation in the development of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles in the UK. It will establish a Technology Cluster in the UK to boost the testing, development and adoption of CAVs through cross-sector collaboration

• Williams Advanced Engineering revealed its Lightweight Electric Car Platform, named the FW-EVX. The concept features several innovations in battery pack design, cooling systems and lightweight structures, which have each been cleverly integrated into a single, scalable platform.

• The Transport Systems Catapult launched the Intelligent Mobility Data Hub (IMDH), a first-of-its-kind data facility which will enable access and analysis of various data sources to help address challenges in transport.

• The DRIVEN consortium unveiled the first three of its proposed fleet of six self-driving vehicles, a white and blue 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium hybrid, a 2017 Ford Mondeo hybrid and a Range Rover Evoque.

• Tata Motors unveiled its Tata Tiago EV concept. The pure electric Tata Tiago uses a 85 kW motor driven by a refrigerant cooled lithium-ion battery pack. It produces 200 Nm of torque and drives the front wheels via a single speed gearbox.

Commenting on the 10th Cenex-LCV event, Andres Schamel, Director Global Power Train, Ford said, “There is nothing like this anywhere else in Europe where you have the experience of driving and seeing and talking and networking.”

“It’s the 10th Edition of this show and we have been coming to every one of them. We are very pleased to see the event still growing and still building,” said Mike Dempsay, Managing Director, Claytex Services Ltd.

“The number of new ideas and innovations on show has been phenomenal,” said Arun Srinivasan, Executive Vice President, Bosch Mobility Solutions. “I don’t see how you can talk of the future if you were not at the LCV Event.”
